I will be conducting interviews with colleagues, musicians, and questionably homeless people (I don't know Malcolm's personal life, but it may or may not involve trash diving.) to understand the feelings of the genre and the overall perception of the genre culture versus the reality. I will use musical examples and how the music effects people. Like how unnerved I feel about Bill Cosby talking about drugs to Jazz fusion and little children:
We all know puddin' pops are the gateway drugs to dope.
Of course, this is just a introduction, I will give all the genres I write about an unbiased opinion and look at them in the appropriate light. The goal of this blog is to create a discussion and compare and contrast styles. This is not meant to create a pros and cons of entire genres, but more of the positive influences and what each genre brings to the table, but also what we wish we can change about the culture or intellectual content (or how Canada keeps giving us the short end of the music stick):
Maple syrup and Alaska does not make up for Nickleback and Beiber
Last joke about Nickleback I swear. Im looking forward to what I'm about to learn about genres I have not integrated myself with. Hip-Hop? Awesome. Country? Ok, worth a shot. Norwegian Black Metal? Terrified but curious.
.....On second thought this may be a long quarter.
